Nikolai and Pavel were brothers, and they wanted to bring a revolution in the messaging sector. This was the reason they launched Telegram in 213. Earlier that, they both used to work for VK, which was a Russian social network. In 2014, Pavel sold all of his shares in VK and left Russia.
